“It’s the blood on the shelf today that saves a life tomorrow.”
The Indiana Blood Center will have one blood mobile as well as a small four-bed blood drive setup inside the Auto Show space at the Convention Center. Donors will be able to give a double red cell donation at the drive, and everyone who participates will receive a $10 concession voucher good for the day of the donation. To make an appointment for a blood donation at the Auto Show, please visit: www.indianablood.org/indyautoshow.
Donors will be able to give a double red cell donation at the drive. This is a great opportunity for people with O negative blood to make an even more impactful donation. The procedure is apheresis and takes only a few minutes longer than a whole blood donation. An added benefit to the donor is they get their plasma and platelets back.
Every day, more than 550 donors are needed to meet the needs of hospital patients. The need for blood doesn’t take a vacation.
Indiana Blood Center collects blood specifically for transfusion to patients.
Blood donation is a truly lifesaving gift. There is no substitute for human blood. It is too complex to be manufactured and must be given by a healthy, living donor to a patient.
“We are going to be located near the concession stand at the Auto Show, which is perfect for our blood donors,” said Indiana Blood Center Director of Public Relations and Marketing Andrea Fagan. “The Indianapolis Auto Trade Association has been absolutely amazing to work with. I think they saw the need for blood donations at the holidays and an opportunity to give our mission some visibility.”
Indiana Blood Center was founded in 1952 and is a nonprofit community resource organization dedicated to maintaining a stable blood supply for more than 60 hospitals throughout Indiana. In order to meet patient’s blood needs, Indiana Blood Center must see 550 donors every day. This goal is met with the help of 102,257 volunteer donors and through the dedication of more than 375 Indiana Blood Center staff who live the daily mission of delivering a constant, stable supply of blood components to patients in Indiana hospitals.
Indiana Blood Center is the largest independent blood provider in Indiana and among the top 20 nationally, performing 150,728 procedures each year. Visit www.indianablood.org for more information.

The United States Air Force brings its “Heritage Raptor” to the 2017 Indianapolis Auto Show!
The U.S. Air Force 338th Recruiting Squadron Heritage Raptor is a beacon of pride. It represents the courage, grit and fortitude of the brave men and women who protect and have protected American values across the globe. The essence of power in the skies is captured within a recognizable mobile marketing asset highlighting the past, present and future of the United States Air Force.
The Heritage Raptor honors a proud legacy of valor while striving to inspire the next generation of Airmen. The shark teeth art commonly found on the A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft and the distinct tail markings are a tribute to one of the original aircraft fighter units on the Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio. The “DO” and the “AF47” indicate the birth year of the U.S. Air Force as a separate service and the “338” represents the home of the Heritage Raptor, the 338th Recruiting Squadron.
Keeping one eye on the past and one on the future, the Heritage Raptor symbolizes the heritage and air superiority of the U.S. Air Force.
“We are very excited to be a part of such a prestigious car show as the Indy Auto Show, and we hope our vehicle provides much enjoyment,” said Michael Brown, MSgt, USAF.
